MORE operates along three program lines: journalism we produce, journalists we train, and infrastructure we provide – equipping African journalists, beginning in Liberia and Sierra Leone, with the training, technical infrastructure, and global publishing platforms to define and deliver excellence in journalism from where they stand.

Program Line 1: Journalism We Produce

The Africa Desk Live

The Africa Desk Live is MORE’s flagship weekly live talk show, streaming on YouTube, X, and Facebook to a global diaspora and continental audience. The show airs Saturdays from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Central Time, is recorded via Riverside FM, and features serious, hour-long conversations with journalists, scholars, civic leaders, and policymakers from across Africa and the African diaspora.

The current season, “54 Conversations,” runs from May 2026 through May 2027 and dedicates one episode to each of the 54 countries of the African continent. Each episode is built around a single national conversation – currency and sovereignty in Senegal, post-war governance in Liberia, media and democracy in Kenya, and so on. The series is designed to function as a year-long primer on contemporary Africa for a global audience, and as a permanent archive of African voices on African questions.

Daily Voices (forthcoming)

Daily Voices is MORE’s planned 24-hour news channel, currently in development. It will extend The Africa Desk Live’s work to provide continuous global coverage of Africa produced by African journalists, anchored from African cities, and distributed across streaming, satellite, and broadcast platforms. Daily Voices will launch when the editorial team, technical infrastructure, and operating capital required to sustain a 24-hour newsroom have been assembled. MORE will not launch the channel until it can be sustained at the standard required to compete with the world’s serious news organizations.

Program Line 2: Journalists We Train

MORE Training Cohorts – Liberia and Sierra Leone

MORE will run intensive training cohorts for working journalists in Liberia and Sierra Leone, beginning with a pilot cohort in Year 1. Each cohort accepts a small group of mid-career journalists nominated by editors, peers, and civil-society partners, and provides them with structured instruction in editorial standards, multimedia production, investigative method, and the business of journalism.

Training is taught by working professionals – African and diaspora journalists and US journalism professors with active practice – rather than by academic faculty without recent reporting experience. The curriculum is practice-based, not credential-based: participants leave with a portfolio of new work and the technical capacity to produce more of it, rather than a certificate of attendance.

Cohort Design

• Twelve weeks of structured instruction combining in-person workshops, remote masterclasses, and one-on-one editorial mentorship
• A modest stipend for each participant, recognizing that the cohort is professional work, not a hobby
• Access to MORE’s production tools and editorial support for the duration of the cohort and beyond
• A commissioned piece of journalism published on a MORE platform at the conclusion of the cohort, with fair commissioning rates and editorial credit

Editorial Mentorship Program

Alongside the cohort program, MORE offers ongoing editorial mentorship to alumni and to a small number of additional journalists working in Liberia and Sierra Leone. Mentorship pairs each journalist with a senior editor for monthly editorial sessions, story development support, and access to MORE’s editorial network.
